Introduction To CCVP
VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) is a type of the communication in which voice is transferred over the IP-based network such as internet. VOIP system is integrated into the IP-based networks. Cisco’s CCVP is worldwide recognized IT certification that deals with integrating the VOIP systems into IP based networks. In the recent years IP telephony solutions is being implemented on the company’s data infrastructure.
Like with the other industry professional certification programs, Cisco Systems has launched the certification program for the VOIP technology and the name of this certification is Cisco Certified Voice Professional (CCVP). To be eligible for the CCVP certification, you must first pass the CCNA certification (Cisco Certified Network Associates). You must prove that how to implement, configure, operate and troubleshoot the IP based converged network.
There is a growing demand of the IP professionals in the global market with the skills to integrate the VOIP system into the existing networks. Some of the most important topics that are covered in this certification program are VOIP, Real Time Transport Protocol, Session Description Protocol, Session Initiation Protocol, VOIP architectures, inter domain scenarios, VOIP network elements, delivery of call features, dynamic quality service, enterprise VOIP installation and security considerations and emergency services etc.
CCVP requires the following additional exams along with the CCNA certification.

• 3. CIPT–Cisco IP Telephony (Exam Code 642-444)
• 4. GW/GK–Gateway/Gatekeeper (Exam Code 642-452)
• 5. IPTT–IP Telephony Troubleshooting (Exam Code 642-425)
CCVP certified persons can implement secure, scalable and manageable IP telephone infrastructure. According to the Cisco Systems the CCVP focuses on CallManager, gateways, gatekeepers, IP phones, voice applications, quality of service (QoS), and working with the Cisco Routers and Cisco Catalyst switches.
The validity period for the CCVP certification is for three years and for recertification you must pass the CCIE written exam. More than 60% of the top 500 fortune companies of the world are using Cisco IP communication systems. CCVP certified people acquire broad-based voice and application skills.
CCVP certified people are also capable of implementing, managing and administering Cisco’s VOIP solution, troubleshooting common administrative, configurations and operations issues in the IP networks, installing, troubleshooting and configuring Cisco’s Call manager, installing and managing Gateways and gatekeepers securely and implementing and administering Cisco’s QOS solutions.

CCVP certifications are valid for three years. To recertify, pass any 642-XXX exam that is part of the professional level curriculum after 01/01/06, or pass a current CCIE or CCDE written exam.
