Cisco Systems, the global leader in Internetworking, has launched a new professional-level certification: the Cisco Certified Voice Professional (CCVP).

The new CCVP certification combines the operations, support and design content already covered by the company’s IP telephony and voice-related Qualified Specialist certifications.

According to Cisco, the intended audience for this certification is field engineers, systems engineers, IT professionals working in telecommunications as well as large enterprise and service providers. As the demand for IP telephony and voip grows, there is a need for skilled professionals to handle voip deployment and other associated professional tasks. Already many individuals and organizations are showing considerable interest in voip training.

Cisco states, “The CCVP certification recognizes the increased importance placed on IT professionals of today who are responsible for integrating voice technology into underlying network architectures. Individuals who earn a CCVP certification can help create a telephony solution that is transparent, scalable, and manageable. Earning a CCVP certification validates a robust set of skills in implementing, operating, configuring, and troubleshooting a converged IP network.”

In addition, sources from Cisco stated that the CCVP is “specifically designed to bridge the gap between the CCNA and CCIE Voice.”

The title consists of five exams: four existing Cisco Qualified Specialist exams, plus one new Gateway/Gatekeeper exam. The exams are:
